Judo Floor
Our first floor was a tire floor.
Judo floor. The cost estimate to do a floor this way is over 40 per square foot. The judo floor is spring loade. Placing a judo mat directly over a hard surface floor such as concrete stone ceramic tile or hardwood may not provide enough protection to properly cushion a fall and avoid injuries.
Foam underlayments can improve the shock absorption of tatami bjj mats. See more ideas about judo flooring dojo design. In this room we built a custom made judo floor.
The progressive rate spring floor was wonderful but ridiculously expensive. The only truly sprung floors i have done judo on are a hardwood floor mounted on progressive rate springs in japan and the sprung floors using tires. Each panel is 42 x 42 inches and features wavelock technology which eliminates any hard or soft spots on the floor.
On the other hand having too much cushioning under your judo mat or floor can cause the flooring to flex too much providing an unstable combat surface. This sprung judo floor features the perfect flexibility to absorb energy from a judoka s impact combined with the right amount of resistance for footwork. This creates an area for more comfortable safer throws.
Sub flooring for judo floors the subfloor is just as important as the mats themselves.
